Athletics' Lawrence Butler: Stays hot in Sunday's loss
Butler went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a walk in Sunday's 8-5 loss to the Orioles.
Butler opened the scoring with a two-RBI double in the first inning. The 26-year-old is riding an eight-game hitting streak and has driven in at least one run in seven games during that span. It's been a big August for the right fielder, who is slashing .296/.389/.510 with six homers, 17 RBI, 15 runs and four stolen bases in 27 contests this month. Overall, Butler is hitting .229/.327/.373 with 12 homers, 45 RBI, 53 runs and 10 stolen bases across 129 tilts.

Athletics' Brian Serven: Drives fifth homer
Serven went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Sunday's 8-5 loss to Baltimore.
Serven went to the opposite field with a two-run homer in the third inning off Chris Bassitt. The catcher is hitting .231/.245/.519 with five homers, 14 RBI and seven runs across 53 plate appearances at the big-league level this season. With Shea Langeliers (knee) shelved, Serven has served as the backup to Jonah Heim behind the dish.

Athletics' Jeffrey Springs: Struggles continue in 13th loss
Springs (3-13) took the loss Sunday, allowing seven runs on six hits and a walk over 4.2 innings against the Orioles. He struck out six.
Springs' season-long struggles continued, as he served up three homers at Sutter Health Park, including two to Gunnar Henderson. The southpaw hasn't earned a win since April 14 and has posted a 7.80 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 10:6 K:BB in three starts spanning 14.2 innings since returning from the injured list due to right hip discomfort. With an overall 6.37 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 98:50 K:BB across 123 innings (25 starts), Springs is tentatively scheduled to pitch Friday against the Mariners.

Athletics' Lawrence Butler: Tallies 10th steal
Butler went 1-for-3 with an RBI, a steal and two walks in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Orioles.
Butler reached base three times, including an RBI walk in the sixth inning to get the Athletics on the board. After singling in the ninth frame, the outfielder stole his 10th base of the season. Butler has put together a strong August, slashing .295/.385/.505 with six homers, 15 RBI, 15 runs and four stolen bases across 26 tilts. Overall, he's hitting .228/.326/.371 with 12 homers, 43 RBI and 53 runs over 128 games.

Athletics' Jack Perkins: Takes 10th loss
Perkins (3-10) allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and four walks while striking out five batters over five innings in a loss to Baltimore on Saturday.
It was a bit of a tough-luck loss for Perkins given that he allowed only one earned run, but it wasn't exactly a masterful performance either since he walked four batters. That has been an issue for the right-hander of late -- he's issued nine free passes across his past two starts and has handed out three or more walks five times over his past 10 outings. Perkins is 1-7 during that span, so the lack of control isn't doing him any favors. He'll carry an ugly 6.42 season ERA into his next start, which is projected to be a road matchup against the Mariners.

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Records 10th steal
Gelof went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one stolen base in Friday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Orioles.
Gelof has gone 6-for-41 (.146) over his last 11 games. The utility man is up to 10 steals on the season, including two in that 11-game sample. He's added a .258 average, .775 OPS, 14 home runs, 38 RBI, 53 runs scored, 13 doubles and one triple over 84 contests this year. Gelof is primarily working at third base with some other starts coming in left field or at second base.

Athletics' Jonah Heim: Smacks homer in loss
Heim went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Orioles.
Heim had gone nearly a month without a homer, batting just .156 (12-for-77) during his 22-game power drought. His solo shot Friday got the Athletics on the board in the seventh inning. Heim is batting .210 with a .659 OPS, 12 homers, 41 RBI, 29 runs scored and 15 doubles over 84 contests this season and continues to see a starting role behind the plate since Shea Langeliers (knee) went out of the lineup in late July.

Athletics' Jacob Lopez: Goes five innings in no-decision
Lopez allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits, three walks and a hit batsman while striking out six over five innings in a no-decision Friday versus the Orioles.
Lopez continues to be effective at limiting damage, though he was a little inefficient in needing 100 pitches (63 strikes) to cover five frames Friday. Since rejoining the rotation July 19, he's made eight starts and allowed just 13 runs (11 earned) over 43.2 innings. The strong second half has trimmed his ERA down to 4.82 with a 1.46 WHIP and 96:50 K:BB over 99 innings across 22 games (19 starts) this year. Lopez's next start is projected to be on the road versus the Rangers.

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Scheduled for surgery
Wilson will undergo surgery on his left shoulder Sept. 16, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Wilson landed on the injured list last Friday due to soreness related to a shoulder separation he suffered earlier in the season, and he'll opt to go under the knife to address the issue. His procedure will be similar to the one teammate Zack Gelof underwent last September, and assuming Wilson also has a similar return timeline, he figures to be fully healthy by the time the 2027 campaign begins.

Athletics' Drew Rom: Sent down to Triple-A
The Athletics optioned Rom to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.
The move corresponds with Jose Suarez (hip) being activated from the 15-day injured list. Rom made seven appearances out of the A's bullpen since being recalled Aug. 12, allowing six runs on nine hits and three walks while striking out five across 5.2 innings. He'll head back down to Triple-A, where he has 2.03 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 59:10 K:BB over 40 innings.

Athletics' Jose Suarez: Reinstated from IL
The Athletics reinstated Suarez (hip) from the 15-day injured list Friday.
Suarez has fully recovered from a right hip strain that landed him on the 15-day injured list Aug. 12. He'll return to the Athletics' bullpen with a 5.22 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, three holds and a 60:25 K:BB over 58.2 innings across three teams this season. Drew Rom was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move.
