Bills' Terrel Bernard: Back to work
Bernard (undisclosed) returned to practice this week, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports.
GM Brandon Beane stated a day earlier that the starting inside linebacker was "nicked up a little bit" and even went so far as to say "we'll see" about his Week 1 status, but it sounds like Bernard should be ready to play in the opener at Houston, even if he gets an injury designation. Bernard has come way down from his career regular-season high of 143 total tackles in 2023, mostly due to injuries, and he'll be playing in a new-look 3-4 defense this season as an inside linebacker instead of manning the middle.

Bills' Josh Allen: Logs one appearance in preseason
Allen made one appearance during the Bills' three-game preseason schedule.
Allen suited up for a preseason Week 1 matchup with the Panthers on Aug. 15 and led two scoring drives, completing six of eight passes for 111 yards and one touchdown. His final connection with Keon Coleman resulted in a nine-yard touchdown, after which Allen's exhibition action came to a close. The cameo displayed that Allen already was in midseason form, and he'll be aiming to get back to 4,000 yards through the air in 2026 for the first time since doing so in four consecutive campaigns from 2020-23. He'll be aided in that quest by the offseason addition of WR DJ Moore.

Bills' Khalil Shakir: Optimism regarding Week 1
Per Matt Zenitz of CBSSports.com, "there's currently optimism" that Shakir (undisclosed) will be available Week 1 against the Texans on Sunday, Sept. 13
Since making an appearance during preseason Week 1 on Aug. 15, Shakir has been sidelined due to an undisclosed injury, including no activity at Tuesday's practice. The Bills will post their first Week 1 injury report next Wednesday, and how he's listed then will provide a sense for his status ahead of the regular-season opener.

Bills' Connor McGovern: Back at practice Tuesday
McGovern (leg) was cleared to participate in Tuesday's practice, John Hendrix of AthlonSports.com reports.
McGovern has been sidelined for the last few weeks by a right leg injury that he sustained in early August. He was cleared to return to practice Tuesday, an indication that he'll be available for the Bills' regular-season opener against the Texans on Sunday, Sept. 13.

Bills' Keon Coleman: Gets back on practice field
Coleman (right foot/toe) was present at Tuesday's practice, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
Coleman sustained a sprained right foot/toe in the Bills' preseason opener Aug. 15, but he ditched his low walking boot as of last Thursday and now appears set to mix back into drills. He has nearly two weeks to get healthy ahead of a Week 1 road matchup with the Texans on Sunday, Sept. 13.
