Red Sox's Nate Eaton: Sent to Triple-A
1h agoThe Red Sox optioned Eaton to Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
Since going 3-for-4 with two doubles June 23 in Colorado, Eaton has been mired in an 0-for-20 slump and will make his way off the major-league roster. Jahmai Jones was acquired from the Tigers to round out the Red Sox's bench unit.

Nick Mears KC RP
Royals' Nick Mears: Shifts to 60-day IL
3h agoThe Royals transferred Mears (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.
The right-hander has been on the shelf since late May due to a shoulder impingement and experienced soreness after throwing live batting practice last week, per MLB.com. It's the second time Mears' throwing program has been paused in the past month due to the lingering soreness, and he's now awaiting the results of an MRI. He's not likely to be ready to be reinstated when first eligible in late July.

Landon Knack LAD SP
Dodgers' Landon Knack: Works in long relief in 2026 debut
4h agoKnack struck out two and allowed three earned runs on four hits and two walks across three innings in relief Saturday in the Dodgers' 9-2 loss to the Diamondbacks.
After being reinstated from the 60-day injured list Saturday following a lengthy recovery from an intercostal strain, Knack was put to work right away in the Dodgers' penultimate game of the first half. With starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto getting chased from the contest after five innings, Knack mopped up in long relief, needing 60 pitches to record his nine outs. The right-hander made 19 starts at the big-league level over the previous two seasons, but he looks like he'll have to settle for a bullpen role unless another injury creates an opening in the Dodgers' six-man rotation.

Jonah Bride TEX 3B
Jonah Bride: Cut loose by Texas
5h agoThe Rangers released Bride on Monday.
Bride is presumably opting out of his minor-league contract with the Rangers, as he wasn't in line for a promotion to the big club despite producing a .274/.392/.421 slash line with nine home runs and eight steals over 80 games at Triple-A Round Rock this season. The 30-year-old infielder shouldn't have much trouble landing another opportunity, though he may have to settle for a minor-league deal on the open market.
-
Cam Cannarella MIA OF
Marlins' Cam Cannarella: Tearing up Double-A
5h agoCannarella has produced a .347/.445/.612 slash line with nine homers, seven steals and a 20:20 BB:K over his first 33 games for Double-A Pensacola.
The 43rd overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft out of Clemson, Cannarella was promoted from High-A Benoit in early June and is putting together a breakout campaign that puts him on track to make his big-league debut next season. While there's still some question about his ultimate power upside, the 22-year-old hits the ball hard to all fields and has the athleticism and defensive chops to stick in center field. With Jakob Marsee regressing significantly this year at the big-league level, Cannarella is establishing himself as the Marlins' center fielder of the future, and another promotion to Triple-A Jacksonville later this summer seems likely.
-
RJ Schreck TOR LF
Blue Jays' RJ Schreck: Shelved at Triple-A
6h agoTriple-A Buffalo placed Schreck on its 7-day injured list June 7 due to an unspecified injury.
Though the details regarding Schreck's injury remain unknown, Zach Worden of Sportsnet relays the outfielder appeared to suffer the injury on an awkward slide in Buffalo's June 3 game against Worcester. The 26-year-old has produced a .230/.380/.399 slash line with seven home runs and four stolen bases across 229 plate appearances this season.
-
Gustavo Campero LAA C
Angels' Gustavo Campero: Scheduled for rehab assignment
21h agoCampero (hand) will begin a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League on Monday.
Campero was elevated to the majors in early June before being placed on the 10-day injured list due to a fractured right hand. He sustained the injury in late May when he was hit by a pitch in Double-A, where he has an .803 OPS with 11 steals, five home runs and 26 RBI over 198 plate appearances. He could make his 2026 big-league debut with the Angels shortly after the All-Star break.
-
Ethan Anderson BAL C
Orioles' Ethan Anderson: On mend from ankle injury
1d agoDouble-A Chesapeake placed Anderson on its 7-day injured list Tuesday due to a left ankle injury, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Anderson sustained the injury Sunday before landing on the IL two days later. The catching prospect had produced a .271/.371/.522 slash line with 17 home runs and five stolen bases across 287 plate appearances for Chesapeake this season before being deactivated.
-
Shea Langeliers ATH C
Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Slugs 21st homer
2d agoLangeliers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 9-1 loss to the White Sox.
Langeliers accounted for Oakland's only run of the afternoon, taking Noah Schultz deep in the first inning for his 21st home run of the season. The catcher has cooled off to begin July, batting 5-for-27 (.185) with a 43 percent strikeout rate through his first eight games of the month. He heads into the All-Star break slashing .257/.324/.483 on the season.
-
Kyle Higashioka TEX C
Rangers' Kyle Higashioka: Hits game-tying homer
2d agoHigashioka went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Astros.
Higashioka went yard in the eighth inning, tying the game at 5-5 a half-inning after the Astros had pulled ahead. Higashioka has started three of the last four games behind the dish for the Rangers, perhaps suggesting he's clawing back some playing time from Elias Diaz. Higashioka is batting .220 with a .670 OPS, seven homers, 17 RBI, 19 runs scored, three doubles and no stolen bases over 177 plate appearances.
-
Dalton Rushing LAD C
Dodgers' Dalton Rushing: Out of Sunday's lineup
2d agoRushing is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.
The 25-year-old continues to operate as the Dodgers' primary catcher with Will Smith (neck) on the injured list but will get a breather for the final game before the All-Star break. Eliezer Alfonzo will step in behind the plate Sunday in place of Rushing, who is poised to finish the first half with 10 home runs and an .808 OPS in 60 games, barring an appearance off the bench.
-
Luis Campusano SD C
Padres' Luis Campusano: Scratched Sunday
2d agoCampusano was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays due to abdominal soreness, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
The 28-year-old was penciled in to start behind the plate Sunday but was instead replaced by Rodolfo Duran due to the injury. Campusano will now have five full days to recover before the Padres start the second half of the season Friday in Kansas City.
-
Bryce Harper PHI 1B
Phillies' Bryce Harper: Entering break in cold spell
1d agoHarper went 1-for-5 with a run scored in Sunday's win over the Tigers.
Harper is entering the All-Star break in quite a rough slump. Over his last 14 games, the star first baseman has gone just 8-for-51 (.157) with one home run, three doubles, seven RBI and four runs scored. Fantasy managers will be hoping Harper, who's slashing what's still a potent .260/.365/.497 with 20 homers, 57 RBI and five stolen bases over 408 plate appearances, rediscovers his power stroke following Monday's Home Run Derby.
-
Jonathan Aranda TB 1B
Rays' Jonathan Aranda: Belts 14th homer in loss
2d agoAranda went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and was hit by a pitch in Sunday's 8-2 loss to the Mariners.
Aranda's lone hit produced the only scoring of the night for Tampa Bay, as he launched a two-run homer off Eduard Bazardo in the eighth inning. The long ball was his 14th of the year to match his career high from last season. The first baseman heads into the All-Star break swinging a hot bat, going 11-for-19 (.579) with six RBI over his last five games. Through 93 games, Aranda is slashing .297/.394/.471 with 14 home runs, 17 doubles, 64 RBI and 48 runs scored.
-
Michael Busch CHC 1B
Cubs' Michael Busch: Doubles twice in win
2d agoBusch went 2-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 8-4 win over the Reds.
Busch laced his 16th and 17th doubles of the season to help lead Chicago to victory, and he hit them both against southpaw Andrew Abbott to boot. The first baseman goes into the break with five hits across his last two games, but it's mostly been an underwhelming first half following his breakout 2025. Busch has a .763 OPS, 11 home runs and 49 RBI across 95 contests so far this year. In 2025, he finished with an .866 OPS, 34 homers and 90 RBI in 155 regular-season games.
-
Abimelec Ortiz WAS 1B
Nationals' Abimelec Ortiz: Headed back to Triple-A
2d agoOrtiz was optioned to Triple-A Rochester after Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Yankees, Kyle Williams of TheBanner.com reports.
Ortiz was called up to the big-league roster and made his major-league debut Sunday, going 1-for-2 with a double before he was replaced by pinch-hitter Curtis Mead in the bottom of the sixth inning. Ortiz will now head back to Rochester and will await his next chance with the Nationals.
-
Ty France SD 1B
Padres' Ty France: Drawing third straight start
2d agoFrance will start at first base and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.
France will receive a third consecutive start and appears to have leapfrogged Miguel Andujar for the final opening in the Padres' regular lineup versus right-handed pitching. Since the beginning of July, France is hitting .250 with three extra-base hits, three RBI and two runs over eight games.
-
Vaughn Grissom LAA 1B
Angels' Vaughn Grissom: Sitting in series finale
2d agoGrissom is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.
Though he'll be giving way to Oswald Peraza at second base in the series finale, Grissom may have inched ahead of him on the depth chart after a strong finish to the Angels' first-half schedule. Grissom had started the previous four games, going 7-for-17 with a home run, a double, a walk, six RBI and three runs during that span. The 25-year-old now maintains a .708 OPS on the season, placing him slightly ahead of Peraza's .663 mark.
-
Travis Bazzana CLE 2B
Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Scores twice in win
20h agoBazzana went 0-for-3 with a walk, a steal and two runs scored in Sunday's 5-2 win over Miami. He was also hit by pitch.
Bazzana got the Guardians on the board quickly, leading off the first inning with a walk, a stolen base and then scoring on a Brayan Rocchio single. The Aussie later scored after getting hit by a pitch. The stolen base was his 13th of the season but first in 17 contests. Bazzana, who will play in Tuesday's All-Star Game, limps into the break, having gone 10-for-69 (.145) with one steal, four RBI, three doubles and six runs scored over his last 17 games.
-
Gleyber Torres DET 2B
Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Kicks off rehab assignment
1d agoTorres (oblique) played five innings at second base and went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI in his first rehab appearance Monday in the rookie-level Florida Complex League.
Torres was given the green light to begin a rehab assignment after he completed a running, hitting and defensive progression during the final week before the All-Star break. The 30-year-old is on the mend from a left oblique strain, which sent him back to the shelf June 17 after he had previously missed just over a month with the same injury earlier in the season. He played in just two rehab games before returning from the injury the first time, but the Tigers may take a more conservative approach with Torres' ramp-up program this time around. While a return during the Tigers' first series following the All-Star break could be ambitious, Torres would still appear likely to make it back from the injured list at some point during the final week and a half of July.
-
Marcus Semien NYM 2B
Mets' Marcus Semien: Kicks off rehab assignment
1d agoSemien (hip) began a rehab assignment with Double-A Binghamton on Sunday, logging five innings at second base while going 2-for-3 with a three-run home run.
After landing on the shelf June 25 due to a Grade 3 left hip flexor strain, Semien initially appeared unlikely to make it back from the injured list before the beginning of August, but he's made more rapid progress in his recovery than anticipated. Semien will put his rehab assignment on hold during the All-Star break, but he's expected to report back to Binghamton or Triple-A Syracuse over the weekend to continue stockpiling at-bats in games. If all goes well in his initial rehab games following the break, Semien could get the green light to rejoin the Mets at some point during the final two weeks of July.
-
Bryson Stott PHI 2B
Phillies' Bryson Stott: Another multi-hit game
1d agoStott went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Sunday's win over Detroit.
Stott may have last homered June 23 in Washington, but he's remained somewhat productive at the dish despite the power outage. The middle infielder has tallied six multi-hit games in his last 12 outings. For the campaign, Stott is slashing a middling .249/.308/.393 with seven homers, 42 RBI, 17 stolen bases and 37 runs scored over 353 plate appearances.
-
Ernie Clement TOR 2B
Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Blasts eighth homer
2d agoClement went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 5-4 loss to San Diego.
Clement cashed in on a hanging slider from German Marquez, sending it over the left-field wall for a two-run homer in the fourth inning. The second baseman is riding a seven-game hitting streak, during which he has gone 10-for-30 (.333) with two extra-base hits, three RBI, four runs and a stolen base. Overall, Clement is slashing .296/.318/.433 with eight homers, 32 RBI, 42 runs and three stolen bases across 93 contests. He's slated to start at the keystone for the American League in Tuesday's All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
-
Jose Altuve HOU 2B
Astros' Jose Altuve: Clubs homer in loss
2d agoAltuve went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Rangers.
Altuve went yard in the fourth inning to get the Astros on the board. The second baseman has homered three times over his last six games, though he's at just 11 long balls on the year. He's also batting .235 with a .711 OPS, 27 RBI, 45 runs scored, 13 doubles, one triple and two stolen bases across 74 contests. He's been declining for a few years, but his OPS would be his lowest since he had a .630 mark in the abbreviated 2020 campaign.
-
Jonah Bride TEX 3B
Jonah Bride: Cut loose by Texas
5h agoThe Rangers released Bride on Monday.
Bride is presumably opting out of his minor-league contract with the Rangers, as he wasn't in line for a promotion to the big club despite producing a .274/.392/.421 slash line with nine home runs and eight steals over 80 games at Triple-A Round Rock this season. The 30-year-old infielder shouldn't have much trouble landing another opportunity, though he may have to settle for a minor-league deal on the open market.

Manny Machado SD 3B
Padres' Manny Machado: Tallies three hits in win
2d agoMachado went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 5-4 win over Toronto.
Machado collected three singles, with his RBI knock in the eighth frame tying the game at 4-4. Jase Bowen entered as a pinch runner for Machado and scored the game-winning run. The 34-year-old will head into the All-Star break swinging a hot bat, slashing .291/.381/.500 with five homers, 12 RBI, eight runs and a stolen base over his past 15 contests. Overall, he sports a .203/.290/.418 line with 19 homers, 55 RBI, 46 runs and two stolen bases across 93 games this season.
-
Weston Wilson SEA 3B
Mariners' Weston Wilson: First homer with Seattle
2d agoWilson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 8-2 win over the Rays.
Wilson added to Seattle's lead by taking Ian Seymour deep for a solo homer in the fourth inning. It was his second long ball of the season and first since the Mariners claimed him off waivers June 18. The utility man has seen limited production with his new club, going 3-for-18 across his first 10 games with Seattle.
-
David Hamilton MIL 3B
Brewers' David Hamilton: Not ready to return after break
2d agoBrewers manager Pat Murphy said Sunday that Hamilton (hamstring) will miss "a couple series" following the All-Star break, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
After landing on the injured list Tuesday due to a left hamstring strain, Hamilton will end up needing more than the minimum 10 days to heal up from the injury. Murphy's comments indicate that the speedy infielder will remain out for the Brewers' first six games of the second half, and it's unclear whether Hamilton will need a rehab assignment before making his return from the shelf. Joey Ortiz will likely receive the bulk of the reps at third base while Hamilton is stuck on the IL.
-
Alex Bregman CHC 3B
Cubs' Alex Bregman: Homers again Sunday
2d agoBregman went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, an additional run scored and four total RBI in Sunday's 8-4 win over the Reds.
Bregman goes into the All-Star break with home runs on consecutive days to give himself a little momentum after a mostly uneven first half of the season. The veteran third baseman is batting .241 with a .695 OPS, nine long balls and 41 RBI across 94 contests. During his career, Bregman's best two months by OPS are August and July, so he could be primed for continued success after the break.
-
Denzer Guzman LAA 3B
Angels' Denzer Guzman: Swats fourth homer
2d agoGuzman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Twins.
Guzman had gone 15 games without a homer, hitting .236 with two doubles in that span. The infielder provided the Angels' second run of the game when he went deep off Taj Bradley in the seventh inning. Guzman is now hitting .262 with a .718 OPS, four homers, 14 RBI, 11 runs scored, four doubles and one stolen base over 114 plate appearances this season.
-
Arjun Nimmala TOR SS
Blue Jays' Arjun Nimmala: Returns from 7-day IL
6h agoNimmala (hamstring) went 3-for-11 with two home runs, three walks, five runs and four RBI in four games for Double-A New Hampshire after being activated from the 7-day injured list July 7.
Nimmala spent five weeks on the shelf while recovering from a hamstring strain before getting the green light to rejoin New Hampshire following a six-game rehab stint between the rookie-level Florida Complex League and Single-A Dunedin. The shortstop prospect has maintained a .303/.398/.434 slash line to go with two home runs and three steals in 22 games for New Hampshire since being promoted from High-A Vancouver on May 3.
-
Gavin Lux TB SS
Rays' Gavin Lux: Finding rhythm in rehab assignment
1d agoLux (shoulder) went 1-for-4 with two RBI, a walk and a stolen base in a rehab game for Triple-A Durham on Sunday.
Since resuming his rehab assignment June 30, Lux has gone 7-for-24 with five walks, two steals and three runs scored over seven outings. The 28-year-old has been bitten by the injury bug on several occasions this year, first dealing with a right shoulder injury in the spring, next spraining his ankle during an April 11 rehab contest and then getting shut down May 12 due to left shoulder inflammation. Once Lux is finally ready to make his Rays debut, he'll likely be competing with Richie Palacios for reps at second base and Taylor Walls at shortstop.
-
Xavier Neyens HOU SS
Astros' Xavier Neyens: Moving on to High-A
1d agoThe Astros promoted Neyens from Single-A Fayetteville to High-A Asheville on Monday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Neyens will begin the second half of the season with the Astros' South Atlantic League affiliate after opening his professional career in impressive fashion at Fayetteville. The No. 21 overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft, Neyens totaled 14 home runs and 16 stolen bases while slashing .240/.449/.462 with a 25.9 percent walk rate and 30.2 percent strikeout rate across 305 plate appearances in the Carolina League.
-
Ha-seong Kim ATL SS
Braves' Ha-Seong Kim: Cleared for rehab assignment
1d agoAtlanta announced Monday that Kim (finger) will begin a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Florida Complex League.
Kim landed on the 10-day injured list July 4 after experiencing inflammation in his surgically repaired right middle finger, but he doesn't look like he'll be in store for a lengthy shutdown. He'll likely play at least a couple games in the FCL early this week before Atlanta decides whether to activate him ahead of its next game Friday versus the Rangers or have him continue his rehab assignment with a higher-level affiliate. After returning from a season-opening stint on the shelf and debuting for Atlanta on May 12, Kim produced a lowly .068/.171/.068 slash line over 82 plate appearances before landing back on the shelf. He'll likely have to settle for a reserve role in the middle infield once he's reinstated.
-
J.P. Crawford SEA SS
Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Three hits Sunday
1d agoCrawford went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 8-2 win over Tampa Bay.
Crawford extended Seattle's lead to 3-0 in the second inning with his two-out, two-run double off Ian Seymour before adding a third RBI with his second double in the ninth. It's a nice way to head into the All-Star break for Crawford, who'd gone 13 games without an RBI prior to Sunday -- he went 8-for-52 (.154) with a .453 OPS over that span. Overall, Crawford is slashing .218/.334/.359 with 10 homers, 38 runs scored, 28 RBI and one steal through 335 plate appearances this season.
-
Willy Adames SF SS
Giants' Willy Adames: Trio of hits in win
2d agoAdames went 3-for-4 with an RBI in Sunday's win over Colorado.
Adames led all players in Sunday's contest with three hits, with his RBI single in the eighth inning extending San Francisco's lead to 3-1. It marked the shortstop's first three-hit effort since May 31 and his fifth game with at least three knocks this season. The 30-year-old will head into the All-Star break slashing .230/.281/.420 with 15 homers, 37 RBI, 45 runs and two stolen bases across 91 games.

Jesus Sanchez TOR RF
Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Closing in on rehab assignment
6h agoThe Blue Jays announced July 6 that Sanchez (ankle) has been running and hitting at the club's complex in Florida, MLB.com reports.
Sanchez hasn't yet been cleared to begin a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Florida Complex League during the All-Star break, but he could travel north following the break to receive a reassessment from Blue Jays doctors before reporting to a higher-level affiliate for game action. After Sanchez was placed on the shelf June 27 due to a right ankle sprain, the Blue Jays initially turned to Yohendrick Pinango as their primary left fielder, but Jonatan Clase has since supplanted Pinango as Sanchez's main replacement in the corner outfield.

-
Brody McCullough CHC SP
Cubs' Brody McCullough: Back from 60-day IL
19h agoMcCullough (forearm) was activated from the 60-day injured list Sunday.
McCullough made four rehab appearances while working his way back from season-ending surgery, posting a 4.26 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with 17 strikeouts over 12.2 innings in two showings in the Arizona Complex League and two with Single-A Myrtle Beach. He was reinstated from the 60-day IL on Sunday and looked strong in his first appearance of the year with Double-A Knoxville later that day, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks while striking out four in four frames.

Chase Burns CIN SP
Reds' Chase Burns: Will miss All-Star Game
21h agoBurns will not play in Tuesday's All-Star Game due to a right groin injury he suffered during his last start Wednesday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
Burns, who labored through five innings and 106 pitches, was injured while covering home plate on a wild pitch. The right-hander said he didn't feel anything wrong while on the mound for the rest of the game but felt tightness the following day. He huddled with manager Terry Francona and the front office and decided it was best to not represent the National League in the midsummer classic. There has been no mention of imaging, which suggests the 23-year-old could return following the All-Star break.
-
Shane Smith CHW SP
White Sox's Shane Smith: Returns to health
21h agoSmith (shoulder) was activated from the 7-day injured list Sunday.
Smith made two rehab appearances at High-A Winston-Salem earlier this month, where he allowed three runs on four hits and two walks while fanning eight over 4.2 innings. Diamondbacks' Corbin Burnes: Feels good following session
21h agoBurnes (elbow) began a throwing program July 10 and felt good following the session, MLB.com reports.
Burnes had been working his way back from Tommy John surgery during April and May but was forced to shut down in early June. The plan calls for him to throw off flat ground every other day and then progress to throwing off a mound. The Diamondbacks hope the right-hander can return in time for a September playoff push.

Nationals' Trevor Williams: Covers 2.2 innings in rehab start
1d agoWilliams (elbow) struck out two and allowed two hits and no walks over 2.2 scoreless innings Wednesday in a rehab start at Triple-A Rochester.
Through three starts since beginning his rehab assignment June 28, Williams has turned in a 3.18 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 5:0 K:BB over 5.2 innings across stops with Rochester, Double-A Harrisburg and Single-A Fredericksburg. Williams is building up his innings and pitch counts slowly but surely as he works his way back from last July's internal brace surgery and will likely require at least two or three more appearances in the minors to get fully stretched out. The Nationals don't appear to have a spot available in the rotation for Williams at the moment, though that could change in the aftermath of the Aug. 3 trade deadline.

Spencer Miles TOR RP
Blue Jays' Spencer Miles: Back in bullpen
6h agoMiles struck out a batter and allowed one hit and two walks over two scoreless innings of relief in Saturday's 8-7 loss to the Padres.
Miles made a four-inning start in his prior appearance July 7 in San Francisco, but he shifted back to the bullpen for the Blue Jays' final series of the first half while the team didn't have a need for a fifth starter. The fifth spot in the rotation will come up again July 21 versus Tampa Bay, but Max Scherzer (back) could be ready to return from the injured list by then to fill the void.

Yimi Garcia TOR RP
Blue Jays' Yimi Garcia: Gets back on mound
6h agoGarcia (elbow/neck/biceps) was cleared to throw a bullpen session late last week, MLB.com reports.
Garcia has taken the next step forward in his throwing progression and looks like he could be ready to resume facing hitters shortly after the All-Star break. The veteran righty opened the season on the injured list while completing his recovery from surgery last September to remove scar tissue around his right elbow, and he's since been pulled off rehab assignments on two occasions due to elbow soreness and nerve symptoms related to his biceps and neck. Once he's cleared to head back out on a rehab assignment, Garcia will likely require several appearances before the Blue Jays bring him back from the shelf.

21h agoThe Orioles optioned Raquet to Triple-A Norfolk on Monday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Raquet made one appearance during his latest stint in the big leagues, tossing a scoreless inning Tuesday against the Cubs. Richard Lovelady WAS RP
Nationals' Richard Lovelady: Resumes throwing program
1d agoLovelady (triceps) began a throwing program shortly after landing on the injured list June 29 and had thrown off flat ground out to 60 feet as recently as July 3, MLB.com reports.
The Nationals haven't provided an update on Lovelady's status over the past week and a half, but assuming he hasn't suffered any setbacks since he began playing catch, he could be ready to get back on a mound following the All-Star break. Before being deactivated, Lovelady had been a key piece in the Washington bullpen, notching one wins, four saves and nine holds across his 22 relief appearances with the club.

Noah Murdock PIT RP
Pirates' Noah Murdock: Back at Triple-A
1d agoThe Pirates optioned Murdock to Triple-A Indianapolis prior to Sunday's 14-5 win over the Brewers.
Murdock was up with the Pirates as their 27th man for Saturday's doubleheader, but he went unused in both ends of the twin bill. The 27-year-old righty is still waiting to make his Pittsburgh debut after he signed a minor-league deal with the organization in the offseason before being added to the 40-man roster July 5.

Eugenio Suarez CIN DH
Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Homers in back-to-back games
21h agoSuarez went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Sunday's 8-4 loss to the Cubs.
Suarez, who homered for a second straight day, dialed up the power this past week with three long balls over his last six games (22 ABs). The flip side of that are the 16 times he's struck out during that stretch. Suarez has 11 home runs and 35 RBI through 67 games.

Shohei Ohtani LAD DH
Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Gets knee drained Sunday
2d agoOhtani is set to get his left knee drained shortly after the Dodgers' contest Sunday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Ohtani will get his problematic left knee addressed as soon as possible ahead of the All-Star break in order to maximize his healing time. The two-way star is skipping the Midsummer Classic this year in order to get extra rest, as he's been dealing with inflammation in his knee since mid-June. Though the issue resulted in him missing his most recent start as a pitcher, he's expected to retake his regular spot in the rotation following the break. Ohtani doesn't seem to be impacted much by the knee as a hitter, as he went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and an additional run Sunday and closed the first half with a home run in four of his final six contests.

Miguel Andujar SD DH
Padres' Miguel Andujar: Staying on bench Sunday
2d agoAndujar is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.
After a run of three consecutive starts against right-handed pitchers during which he went 3-for-9 with three doubles, a walk, two runs and two RBI, Andujar has now been left on the bench for the Padres' ensuing two contests, both of which have also come against righties. The 31-year-old may have to settle for a short-side platoon role while the Padres are seemingly prioritizing Ty France and Sung-Mun Song ahead of him in matchups versus righties.
-
George Springer TOR DH
Blue Jays' George Springer: On bench Sunday
2d agoSpringer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Springer started the past three games after missing six contests while on the paternity and family medical emergency list, but he'll take a seat Sunday for the final matchup before the All-Star break. Barring an appearance off the bench, the veteran slugger will finish the first half with a disappointing .218/.303/.374 slash line, nine home runs and six steals in 66 games.
-
Jorge Polanco NYM DH
Mets' Jorge Polanco: Taking seat Sunday
2d agoPolanco is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.
Polanco will hit the bench for the Mets' final game before the All-Star break while Juan Soto gets a day off from playing the outfield as the designated hitter. Since being activated from the 60-day injured list July 7, Polanco has started at DH in four of six games, going 3-for-16 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run. He's not expected to be available to play first base anytime soon coming off injuries to his Achilles and ankle, and unless he's able to catch fire at the plate, Polanco could find himself on the bench once Luis Robert (back) returns from the 60-day IL at some point following the All-Star break.
