WWE Raw results, recap, grades: The Vision takes out Jey Uso and LA Knight to close the show
Another week of Raw, another week of The Vision getting the better of Raw's top babyfaces
Even without Paul Heyman in the arena Monday, Seth Rollins and The Vision dominated their top rivals. Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed were the men who delivered Rollins' message on Monday afternoon in Paris, beating LA Knight and Jey Uso before taking out both men after the match.
It was more of the same that fans have seen for months at this point. Uso and Knight formed an uneasy alliance ahead of their match, but that was nowhere near enough to handle the solidified -- and dominant -- team of Breakker and Reed in the night's main event.
CBS Sports was with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from Paris La Défense Arena in Paris.
The Vision takes out Jey Uso and LA Knight to close the show
The show opened with CM Punk waiting to meet Seth Rollins at "the only way in and out of the arena," where Raw general manager Adam Pearce questioned him before leaving him alone. Jey Uso then cut an in-ring promo before being interrupted by LA Knight, who blamed Uso for not putting Rollins through a table at Clash in Paris, allowing himself, Uso and Punk to battle it out for the world heavyweight championship. Eventually, the argument was interrupted by Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, who threw down a challenge for a tag match in the main event.
Before that main event, Pearce told Punk he'd received confirmation that Rollins was in the building. Punk went to the ring and was confronted by Becky Lynch, who ran down Punk as not being on the same level as her husband. Rollins eventually appeared and dared Punk to make his way up the entrance ramp, but Lynch stepped in Punk's path to stop him. After Rollins walked off, Lynch slapped Punk repeatedly, leaving him to say that he would make Rollins and Lynch regret their actions.
Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed def. Jey Uso & LA Knight via pinfall after Breakker hit Uso with a spear. After the match, Breakker and Reed looked to continue their attack on Uso until Knight tried to make the save. Breakker took out Knight with a spear, leaving Uso alone in the ring again. Breaker hit Uso with another spear before a Tsunami from Reed before Jimmy Uso ran in with a chair to chase Breakker and Reed running as the show went off the air.
Is there any episode of Raw that won't end the same way? Watching yet another Vision beatdown to end Raw left me feeling absolutely nothing. It feels like that's why WWE put the Punk/Lynch/Rollins situation before the main event to further tease the return of AJ Lee, since that's more noteworthy than The Vision beating down the same small handful of babyfaces again and again. It's exhausting, and creative needs to come up with some sort of change of pace, and they need to do it soon. Grade: C
What else happened on WWE Raw?
- The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) def. Judgment Day (Roxanne Perez & Raquel Rodriguez) via submission when Asuka caught Perez in an Asuka Lock. Before the match, Iyo Sky offered to help after apologizing for the trio's confrontation last week, but Asuka said they would handle things. Later, Asuka promised Sky that she would help her beat Stephanie Vaquer.
- Adam Pearce announced that Iyo Sky and Stephanie Vaquer would battle for the women's world championship. The title was vacated when Naomi announced her pregnancy, leaving Sky, who was already slated to challenge Naomi, and Vaquer, who won the No. 1 contender battle royal at Evolution, as the obvious choices to crown a new champion.
- Finn Balor def. Dragon Lee via pinfall with a Coup de Grace. JD McDonagh ran interference for Balor late in the match.
- The Viking Warriors & Penta def. The New Day & Grayson Waller via pinfall when Penta hit Xavier Woods with a Mexican Destroyer.
- Pearce talked to Lyra Valkyria about Bayley, leaving Valkyria confused when he said he'd spoken to Bayley and she sounded "great" but said some "confusing things." Valkyria then asked for a match with anyone from Judgement Day, which Pearce granted for next week.
- Intercontinental Championship – Dominik Mysterio (c) def. AJ Styles via pinfall after a frog splash to retain the title. As Styles seemingly had the match won, El Grade American ran in to interfere and set Mysterio up for the win.
